Sittings, Meditations, and Retreats with Emily Carson
Public Sittings A Public Sitting with Emily Carson is much like a traditional satsang or Buddhist sitting group.Emily begins with an opening teaching—sometimes dharma talk, sometimes guided meditation, sometimes prayer—and then responds to questions. You are invited to participate if you wish, or just sit in the meditative space. Silent Meditation Gatherings
Monthly Silent Meditation Gatherings are for zazen-style silent sitting. We sit two meditation periods (35 and 45 minutes) in silence; between these is an informal opportunity to ask Emily questions about spiritual practice, or to continue your own meditation.Any meditation practice is welcome (though none is required), as long as it is silent and still.

Retreats Half-day and daylong Retreats with Emily Carson give a small group of participants the opportunity to explore a particular topic in depth in an intimate atmosphere of honesty and stillness.Emily gives an opening teaching on the topic at hand; the rest of the day, she guides participants in a process of self-discovery aimed at uncovering misunderstandings and surrendering to experiences.Past retreats have addressed such topics as the fear of dying, inner guidance, hunger and nourishment, and money. Her silent meditation retreats invite participants to discover their own, innate silence, the indispensable ground of any spiritual practice. Combining meditation with personal instruction, Emily facilitates individual explorations of stillness in a supportive environment.
The next Daylong Retreat will be Sunday, June 17 (topic TBA).
