Daylong Topic Retreats Daylong retreats with Emily provide small groups of participants both an atmosphere of honesty and stillness and substantial time in which to explore themselves in relation to a particular topic.Such topics have included the fear of dying, hunger and nourishment, and the mind.Emily begins each retreat with an opening teaching; she then guides participants in a process of self-discovery aimed at uncovering misunderstandings and surrendering to the experiences that arise. These retreats are about the hard work of putting the teachings into practice: facing our most uncomfortable experiences with courage and surrender, undermining our most pervasive doubts and illusions with faith, and beginning to live our lives out of all the radical implications of the truth.
To insure adequate one-on-one attention, topic retreats are limited to eight participants. In 2012, Emily has only one spot available in each of four retreats addressing the topics of fear of dying and inner guidance. However, we’ve reserved a June retreat date for an as-yet-undetermined topic—we want to hear what you would most like Emily to work with you on!Send us an email letting us know.Topic retreats cost $135; register using the button on the schedule sidebar, or contact us by email or phone if you need to make payment arrangements.
Daylong Silent Meditation Retreats Daylong Silent Meditation Retreats invite participants to discover and experience their own innate silence—the indispensable ground of any spiritual practice. These retreats, too, begin with an opening talk; the rest of the day is given primarily to silent sitting, with generally one period of personal instruction, as Emily facilitates individual explorations of stillness in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Weekend Retreats Residential weekend retreats provide a rare opportunity to pursue self-discovery and personal and spiritual renewal buoyed by Emily’s teachings and one-on-one guidance, all in a beautiful natural setting that nurtures and supports our collective pursuit of honesty, surrender, and stillness. The Friday-afternoon-through-Sunday-afternoon format includes four or five sessions with Emily that combine discussion and individual facilitation with inspirational talks and silent sitting. In between sessions with Emily, there will be ample opportunity to explore the lovely surroundings, including one morning off-site at one of the area’s natural wonders, as well as shared meals and an open meditation space for your personal spiritual practice.
